I just moved into a house with lead pipes. There is a very low level of lead in our water, but it is enough to warrant drinking bottled water. To save the bottled water I want to boil eggs in our tap water. Can lead be absorbed through the eggshell into the eggs themselves?

Lead is very heavy. For it to make a compound in water and stay suspended in the solution is a hardship in itself. For lead to also penetrate an eggshell would almost be impossible. Eggshells are not that porous. Due to this fact the chance that lead would get into an eggshell is almost impossible.
