Does Anyone Know Of Any Free Flight Planning Software?

Ideally it would be able to input cruising altitude, aircraft type, departure, destination and time of departure. The grab METARS TAF’s and winds aloft from the internet and be able to spit out times between checkpoints, heading, and fuel used.
It doesn’t have to do all iof that but that would be ideal

  1. Technically it isn’t free, however if you join AOPA for a measely $39 a year, you get a free albeit slightly simplistic flight planner. It works very well. You can input your aircraft data, has TFR’s, and a lot of other info. You also get access to their weather page with all the other info you are looking for. There are a lot of other bene’s as well. You also get your choice of one of two great magazines; AOPA Pilot or Flight Training. Not to mention you would be joining an organization that truly supports General Aviation. And no, I don’t work for them…but if they’d like to hire me…

https://www.duat.com/ does everything you mentioned and much more. It is FAA certified and you can file flight plans on it as well. They also have approach plates which are legal to use if you’re into the whole IFR thing. All you need to access it is a medical certificate; its completely free.
