no there are no free softwares, especially for animation.
There are not really any good free substitutes. You’d be better off just researching some cheaper products… but ultimately if you want to make this sort of thing you’ll have to fork out.
There is however a free solution to Flash made by adobe called ‘Flex’, which you could look at. It relies heavily on coding and doesn’t come with a pretty user interface however:http://www.adobe.com/products/flex/
