You can download the restore file from another website. http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/ is great. Download it, then select the firmware file to restore to. When you are prompted to restore, press and hold SHIFT and click restore. This will allow you to select the file to restore to.
Hope that helped!
I had the problem of not being to restore mine, so we called tech support, and they told us we needed to download from my computer. The ipod looked like it was in lock, and we couldn’t figure it out, so called the store where I bought the ipod. They will tell you over the phone and voila!!! I don’t know why your itunes won’t let you download the software update…strange, cuz they usually remind me to update when I buy a new song or game.
I know this isn’t a great answer, but we did need tech, however there are lots of people on here who can answer your question. I had to ask too and between tech and this Y?A I have my ipod up and running and am enjoying it.
