Besides Final Cut is on a Mac and Premiere is on a PC, what are the differences? I am taking a college class that teaches Final Cut. I am excited to learn Final Cut because I know it is the industry standard. But I own premiere and a pc. Will learning Final Cut help me to understand Adobe Premiere?

finalcut and premiere are not very similar. premiere is something you can probably learn on your own with a few online tutorials, but it is not nearly as easy to use nor as professional as finalcut.
however, i am in the same boat as you, where i own a pc with adobe software, and learned finalcut in school. it translates ok as far as just, general editing strategies go, but id prefer FCP.
get a mac?
