I currently have Norton as a trial but have access to free virus protection through my internet provider, ATT. Is the ATT product a good one?

simply uninstall the antivirus program:
start up menu
control panel
program and features
antivirus program
uninstall
and restart the computer.
if you have any good registry cleaner ;run that
now install the other anti virus program
i dont know anything about the att product.but if you want to remove norton then its just a case of uninstalling it using control panel-add/remove programs.
I am a registered beta tester. When you go to add/remove you will only think that Nortons has been removed. You are left with over 375 fragments glued to your registry, files/folders and subsystem, that cause serious conflict if not all removed before installing a new antivirus.
Remove what is removed from Add/Remove: Now following the instructions below to get all of the fragments left behind.
Here is indepth instruction on how to remove the fragments.
Go to your tray, start, run and type in: c://program files, and click on browse, open program files and look at all your files and you will still see Nortons there. Try and delete the file if you can, If it say being used by another file, or wirte protected reboot and perform the same task again should delete this time.
Now go to start, search and type in: Nortons and let your PC scan for all related files, and start to delete them from top to the bottom. Go back and type in serach: Symantec and let your PC search, delete all related files for Symantec.
Now go to start, run and type in regedit, this will open you registry. Open HKEY CURRENT USER, OPEN SOFTWARE AND LOOK DOWN THE LIST OF REGISTRY KEYS FOR NORTONS AND SYMANTEC.
PLEASE TAKE GREAT CARE NOT TO DELETE ANY KEY NOT RELATED TO NORTONS OR SYMANTEC, OR YOU WILL FIND YOURSELF HAVING TO REINSTALL YOUR PLATFORM

If you are changing antivirus programs, ALWAYS completely uninstall the old program, before installing a new, different antivirus program.
As to ATT’s AV product, I am not familiar with their software, but by design, antivirus programs that are bundled with ISP’s software are often not as thorough as a stand-alone antivirus program. In doing a quick Google search for ATT Yahoo antivirus software, I found a brief description here:http://promo.yahoo.com/att/surf_safely.h…
It looks as if the software they offer is affiliated with Norton, so it might not be so bad (although I am not a big Norton fan — I’ve seen plenty of people burned by their software, myself included). You may also choose to go with something else.
Some suggestions would be Kaspersky Anti-Virus or Kaspersky Internet Security, Trend Micro Antivirus, or…if you want a free solution, AVG Antivirus from Grisoft.
Also, don’t forget to protect yourself against spyware as well, which some antivirus programs do not often do. Make sure that the antivirus program you go with covers both, or get a separate antispyware program as well if it does not.
Ultimately, if you choose to go with ATT Yahoo’s software, even if it affiliated with Norton, make sure to completely uninstall your old Norton trial through Add/Remove Programs first (or Uninstall Programs in Vista), restart your computer, and then install the ATT AV software.
And never, ever run two antivirus programs at the same time. They don’t play together nicely.
Download the Virus program that you want,un-install Norton and install the new program, but do not run two antivirus programs at the same time.
