What’s The Best Image Editing Software For Movies And Music Videos?

I’m in the process of editing a music video and a short film I’ve created, but I seriously need to upgrade my material. What’s the BEST program to get for video editing? I also need to be able to export it onto the Web.

Windows Movie Maker is suffient for most needs and comes free with Windows.http://www.windowsmoviemakers.net
Since “best” is subjective, and you provide no criteria for such an evaluation, the question can’t otherwise be answered. The most popular commercial application for video editing is arguably Adobe Premiere.

Well if you want the absolute “BEST”, meaning the software used by professionals when they edit movies, there are 3 top choices that are popular according to trade publications:
    - Avid Media Composer
    - Apple Final Cut Pro
    - Adobe Premiere
These are fairly expensive, but since you specifically said “BEST”, these are the choices with the most full-featured editing options. They’ve also got a wide variety of choices for publishing video for Web too.

  3. There is no best program. A good artist just learns how to manipulate their tools to do what they need and get the results they desire. Now that being said, there are consumer, prosumer, and professional grade options. Consumer options are often just lacking too many features and can cripple an artistic vision. Prosumer and professional products are more likely where you want to go. But the catch there is that you’ll likely have to pay something for them.
I would start out considering Sony Vegas Movie Studio, Corel Ulead Video Studio, and Adobe Premiere Elements. I think all of these are in the affordable range and decent prosumer options. Sony and Adobe have solid user bases, so have respectable representation online and in forums and such. Vegas ranges from like $55-$550 depending on the version. Corel is I think either $60 or $80 (standard and pro versions). Premiere Elements I believe is $140. While the most expensive, it is also the smaller sibling of a true professional option.
Oh sorry there is also Avid (or Pinnacle) Liquid. I haven’t looked much at this one. Avid is the top dog in professional level editing software. I’m not sure how crippled they’re making this entry level product though. I’ve only worked with Media Composer from them.
If you can afford it, I think Premiere Elements is your best bet. Its decent in terms of learning curve and abilities. Its got a professional level bigger brother. It has a good user base on the Internet and in forums. There is a decent filters/effects representation for it out there as well.

You can check out trakaxPC, which we’ve just recently released – it’s completely free (no trial/catches etc.)http://www.trakax.com/software/pc/
It’s simple drag and drop technology, so perfect for beginners to experiment and have fun creating music, video and photo slideshow mixes without a steep learning curve. However, there are advanced features such as beat-matching etc., so you can find a level to suit your capabilities. You can cut samples, remix tracks, change tempos, create slideshows, create & edit videos, record in directly from your mic etc. Check out the site for a full range of reviews.
We also provide libraries of royalty-free loops & beats that will help you in creating new and unique tracks – they’re really cheap, so worth checking out:http://www.trakax.com/software/trakpacks…
Good Luck with the music, video and photo slideshow mixing!
