Is It Okay To Keep A Field Springer Spaniel If I Don’t Want It To Flush Or Retrieve Game?

I was thinking of getting a springer spaniel, and I want a field springer because of the easy grooming, lighter bodies, and high energy. But I’m afraid to keep one because of the high stamina. I’m afraid it might chase cars or other small animals such as squirrels. I don’t want it to get into an accident. What should I do?
