I uninstalled office 2007 (home and student) so I could go back to using office 2003. My Windows Update still tries to give me updates for 2007 which is annoying as I like the ease of not having to untick a dozen boxes every time I want to install the latest patch etc.
Can anybody help?

I think that there might still be office 2007 files on your hard drive somewhere. Windows Updates doesn’t try to install updates for software that you haven’t got.
Try using Secunia’s excellent Personal Software Inspector. It will scan for missing patches and also for old versions of software or remnants of old versions.

Choose either the online version or download the personal version and use in advanced mode.
It’s possible to turn on Windows Update only when you need it to, such as you want it to patch your firewall. Go into the Windows Update, go to settings, then click “never search for updates”. It’s going to be the only way to stop these updates.
