What Are The Parts Of A Dinner? What Does A Dinner Consist Of?

I’ve recently became responsible for all the shopping and cooking for my family. To stay organized i want to create monthly and weekly dinner plans to make the grocery shopping easier and a little less expensive. So in order to plan dinners i need to know what a dinner is made out of. Like a main dish a veggie…. etc. Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

Different courses for a dinner depend on how fancy you want to make it.
You can start with an appetizer, salad, or soup. The you would move on to the main course which could have a meat, starch (rice, potato or pasta) and a vegetable or two and some sort of bread. If you still have room after all of that you could have dessert.
Food network has great shows for beginning cooks as well as an excellent website for easy recipes.
I was put in charge of fixing dinner when I was 11 or 12 and my Mom went back to work. You’ll do just fine.

dinner is a main dish(fish, pasta, meat ect.) and veggies. veggies are VERY important. you can go to the frozen section and freeze a bunch of bags. like peas corn brussel sprouts. by the way if you get the frozen califlower and cook it in the microwave and microwave it wiith italian dressing in it. and when it comes out its delicious. hope i helped!

  3. It depends on what I want to make.
    Meat and 3 veggies.
Rice and veggies with chicken, fish or other meats.
What you need is a good variety of meats, sea food chicken, fresh and frozen veggies at hand with potatoes, rice, pastas.
Plan meals, so that you can buy a whole cabbage for example and then use it a couple of times per week. It will last a couple of weeks in the crisper ir wrapped in a plastic bag with a minimum of wastage.

    Dinner usually consists of:
Drink (Can be water, juice, milk, whatever)
    Salad or Soup course
Entree (Usually a protien base, but can be starch like pasta with some protien)
Side Dish or two (no more than one starch, and if the Entree is a starch, then don’t do a starch here)
    Bread (optional)
    Dessert
You can do all of these things and still make them reasonably cheap and easy, just think about making things simply. Focus on what is inexpensive and dress it up a little. If you are making a rich meal, you might not need alot in the way of starches and breads. Start out doing what you are comfortable with. If you have a crock pot, learn to use it and you will see how easy and tasty crock pot foods are. Shop the sales, I know it’s a hassle but collect coupons. There are stores that have ‘double coupon’ days, and some stores will honor anyone’s coupons. Good luck! <3

It depends on where you are from ,in the south(maybe other places) they refer to dinner as the midday meal…I think of dinner as the evening meal.
certain dishes like casseroles that contain both veggies and proteins,.with these you would serve a green salad.and a bread(optional)
If you are serving something like roasted chicken, pork chops, meat loaf you would want a starch like potatoes, rice, pasta, peas,or corn and a non starchy veggie like carrots, tomatoes, spiniach or green beans.bread is optional.

Well, technically, dinner is the second course of the day, followed by supper, which is in turn SUPPOSED to be smaller then dinner(lunch).
But anyways, supper is commonly served in this order: cold drink, grain, soup or salad, a sort of pre-main course(something like potatoes, rice, or pasta), then a main course(meat, fish, etc.)
