Firstly I would scrap all the Adsense ads for now. One it looks bad on a website and 2. Especially as it’s not earning you money. What is the point?
The answer, as always is quite simple. It’s because you haven’t developed your site yet and you aren’t getting enough visitors. The income depends on the number of page impressions and the click through rate (I think). So if 1000 people look at the page and your click through rate is around 1-2% you get 20 adsense payments. Then you have something called eCPM (Estimated cost per thoasand). This is what an advertiser would pay for 1000 clicks (could be around $4). It gives you an idea what you would get for one click. Different adverts pay different rates. For example financial ads pay quite a lot.
I would advise you to forget it for the moment. Concentrate on improving your site and your visitor numbers. Get something like Statcounter to count and analyse your visitor stats.
Make sure you get your keywords right on your webpages.
Use colors that make your ads blend in on your website, and use blue for the links of the ads.
Put the ads above the fold, preferably in your content.
What you need first is traffic. Then, trial an error! Adsense still works! I have 10 ‘free information based websites’ with adsense, all making me about 10$ each per day (10 websites x 10$ = 100$ per day). But I have about 1000 unique visitors / 3000 page views per day average.
What you need is some online marketing tactics. Visit the website below and you will get three online tools that you need to succeed. Check how the adsense has been placed.
Go to your adsense account and then go to the help section and it helps you pick certain formats and pics and colors for your adsense ads to make them more appealing and to stand out better..
