What Is The Best Cordless Electric Fillet Knife?

I want to get my dad a cordless electric fillet knife for his birthday. We go freshwater fishing about once a month and catch mostly trout and bass, and it’s never more than a cooler full. Basically, this knife will get used regularly, but it most likely won’t be beat up by huge fish or a large quantity of fish. I just want to give him something that makes the filleting process super easy. What is the best one for him to try?

Minnie, there are lots! and lots of choices in this arena. My advice is to poke around on some of the websites that offer “ratings” or “product reviews” such as Cabela’s.
That said, I’m a value oriented sort of guy who does not like to pay more for something than he has to. The best electric fish fillet knife I’ve ever owned was a freebie electric bread knife that came with the bread maker I bought my wife years ago. When it finally burned out, I almost cried. Anyway, I replaced it with an electric bread knife from WalMart for about 8 bucks. Look around and scrounge garage sales to find these seldom used items as back ups for when your knife burns out. I catch and clean a lot! of fish in a year’s time including fish as small as 7″ bluegill (yes the bread knife will clean them lickety split) up to 14-18 inch bass, walleye and salmon over 25 pounds. The trick is to keep your serrated knife blades sharp when cleaning fish and you do that by using a tool like this one:http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templa…
Good luck, have fun and don’t forget the garage sales!!
