Last time, It took about a week and a half for myself. However, I was only off for three days so it didn’t take too long to regain it. If you are off for a good few weeks, I think the chances of getting it back will be in the few weeks realm also.

It depends on how much you contribute to the site, and how many best answers you receive in the desired categories in which you participate in. If you want a top contributor badge, stick to the categories you want the badge in. If you keep receiving the best answer in the category or categories that you participate in, you will eventually receive the top contributor badge(s).
