How To I Get Software That Works With 2000 To Work With Xp?

I have a computer game that works with 98/2000, but I have xp. I install the game but it always works slow and ends up freezing. How can I speed it up and make it work better?

    Right click the icon > Properties > Compatibility > Run in Compatibility Mode
