Got a Sony PRS-300 reader, notice that it seems only to allow ebooks from Waterstone’s, W H Smiths and Borders to be downloaded. I regularly buy books through Amazon, so can I download ebooks from them also, or is it a matter of conflicting downlaod formats. If so, is there any software available to enable me to download them into a format that my Sony reader can handle?

I’m sorry, but Amazon Kindle books can only be read on a few devices. They protect their own interest so their ebooks are DRM protected (just like sony ebooks)… See here on what devices can be used to read Amazon Kindle ebooks:http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?i…
I’ll suggest to have Amazon Kindle if you want to read Kindle books. Don’t use iPod / iPhone because their screen are not designed for reading, and will hurt your eyes if you read for long hours.
