How Many Children Actually Respect And Obey Their Parents?

Okay im still a teen and all, but it really bothers me to see kids and teens completely disrespect their parents. Now my question is 1) kids and teens do you respect and obey your parents and why 2) adults and parents what do you think about all this. Are too many parents giving free reign to their children or is that kids just arn’t respectful now days?

I don’t drink.
I don’t smoke.
I don’t do drugs.
I don’t have sex.
I don’t sneak out.
I think I’m a relatively good kid in comparison to some others. I wouldn’t say that I ”respect and obey” them, because that makes me sound like a household pet rather than their child.I think sometimes we just have a mutual respect for each other that can’t be explained.

Most kids don’t. I don’t. I mean, I do, but I don’t. I know that’s confusing and contradicting and whatnot. But I do respect my parents, I just don’t let people know that. Also, as a teen, parents and teens have to have some bit of arguing. I know that sounds bad, but it’s true. At this stage in our lives, we are becoming our own person, and getting ready to start or lives apart from them. We need to hate them just enough to be able to leave them, and the same goes for the parents. This doesn’t mean the bond between us has to break, just bend. I don’t completely disrespect them. I just think they’re strict, hypocritical, and mean. There are certain things I will never say to them, ie, I will not call my mother fat. (or any synonym or fat) It’s just hard.
I respect my parents definitely I just don’t always obey them because some of their rules and accusations just don’t make any sense to me. I’ll do what I think it’s best for me and usually my parents know but no matter how many times they say they know me better, they know what’s best for me better they just don’t know it all.
Lots of teenagers respect their parents. People who moan about how none of them do are just generalizing.
Sure I respect my parents. But if you *always* obeyed your parents, you’d be a mindless zombie. You have to have a chance to not listen once in awhile so you can learn from your mistakes. If that makes any sense.
Well, while I don’t go off and run around acting like a hoodlum I don’t listen to my mom very much. I am 20 and a police explorer, I am a very good person but my mom still tries to tell me when to go to bed, tries to keep tabs on me like I am a minor, and still tries to set rules on me. While she is my mom and I should go by her rules living at home as a free thinking adult I have to respect my self as well and live my live in the way I think is best. It’s my turn now she had the last 18.

I have a too big of a conscience, I just can’t lie to them. I just respect their decisions because I think they’re fair. They know what’s best for me without being controlling and annoying. I’m lucky to have parents like mine.
I am with you – I hear kids telling their parents to shut up and stuff like that – it makes my skin crawl!! My 3 children respect and obey us – we won’t tolerate anything but that… oh believe me – they try to pusj the limits but they find out pretty quick that it’s I their best interest to straighten up – which they do
i respect them…
course i occasionally dont obey them though.

I dont become like those drug ppl, etc cuz thats how I respect them by following what they want meh to be.
