What Is The Best *free* Screen Recording Software?

I would really like software that can record movies of me playing 3-D applications with good framerates and not have limited amounts of time to record a clip without having to pay for it. Are there any out there that meet this criteria? (And I don’t want to hear “FRAPS.” It has a 30 second clip limit)

i heard Camtasia Studios is good, there are many others.
When i needed a screen recording software, I simply googled it and came up with “camstudio”. It was a free download and with what i have seen, it works quite well. It just is very low-tech.
