first which iPod model, I don’t think you can really tell from the box maybe you should ask someone in the store. I think the iPod touch might have different box designs with newer software but I am not 100% sure. Also, the software updates only have little changes on most models but have a big change for iPod touch. If you got an older software iPod you could more than likely update it through iTunes.
