You can check out trakaxPC, which we’ve just recently released – it’s completely free (no trial/catches etc.)http://www.trakax.com/software/pc/
It’s simple drag and drop technology, so perfect for beginners to experiment and have fun creating music, video and photo slideshow mixes without a steep learning curve. However, there are advanced features such as beat-matching etc., so you can find a level to suit your capabilities. You can cut samples, remix tracks, change tempos, create slideshows, create & edit videos, record in directly from your mic etc. Check out the site for a full range of reviews.
We also provide libraries of royalty-free loops & beats that will help you in creating new and unique tracks – they’re really cheap, so worth checking out:http://www.trakax.com/software/trakpacks…
Good Luck with the music, video and photo slideshow mixing!
The AVS Video Editor really is a great choice for its relatively cheap price, but as it does still cost 40$ to buy, you probably wont be able to use it forever.
Hypercam software is the most universally used screen recording software. It’s free, isn’t crud, and doesn’t limit your recording too much except for the Hypercam icon on the screen. You can use this as a starting software if you don’t want to spend any money.
As for Mac OS’s, you’d want to use Copernicus. It’s free, easy to use, and is one of the few free choices for Macs.
Editing software like Microsoft Movie Maker comes with the Microsoft OS. This is a great starter program and editor to use, and is easy and simple. After getting the hang of editing with this, you can move onto more complex and of course expensive editors. With RuneScape however, you wont ever need much more advanced editing tools. For audio editing, you could use Audacity; a great free alternative.
The Mac OS X comes with iMovie HD and the MacBook Pro comes with the normal iMovie. Both are very easy to use and provide you with a wide variety of editing tools. As for an audio editor, Audacity for both Mac’s and Windows is a free alternative. You can move onto GarageBand for more complex editing.
Well I like to use this program called Total Screen Recorder.
You can get a free download at their homepagehttp://www.totalscreenrecorder.com/
The full version is just cost around $24.95 and you can not only record videos of your actions, but also do screen captures of websites such as capture the Youtube video.
It never lags my computer for me.
Also, it is compatible with Windows XP and Vista.
Good Luck!
Erm im an experienced video maker and can tell you some:
hypercam: has sign in the corner of the video
screenrecordergold: same as hypercam
Camtasia studio 5: free 30 day trial then big money.
or you could type into youtube how to get camtasia studio 5 for free im sure you will find something if you are that desperate. Email me if you need any more help
you don’t need to record any videos at all.
just use File2HD.com
it’s hella simple.
just go to the YouTube video you want, copy the video link (NOT THE EMBED) and then go to File2HD.com
paste the link into the open bar, select the box that says you agree with their terms of service, select the “movie” option and then click the “Get Files” button.
The page will refresh and you will then be able to right-click and download the videos straight to your computer. It’s simple.
(and yes, you can use this site to even snag MySpace songs from music pages that prohibit users from downloading their stuff!)
As for editing, I’d stick with Quicktime Pro 7.
It has the easiest interface possible, with simple yet powerful functions and best of all, it’s free!
…well no, I take that back. It’s not really free. But I can send you a serial code to register the program for free if you’d like me to. Just email me with a request.
Hope this helped.

You can try liteCam, I’ve been using it for few months to record YouTube videos and pretty happy with it. I’ve tried several programs, and it works the best for recording short (5-20 minutes) streaming videos.
They have 30 days trial as well.http://www.innoheim.comhttp://www.replaystream.com (This is a tutorial site)
if u want a free program use hypercam but if u have the money and want a really good program use avs. its really good quality. also for hypercam u can register it but all it does is just remove the bar thing at the top-left.
