How Do I Get My Updated Zune Software To Recognize My Zune?

I recently updated my zune software to 3.1 but when i did that my new 3.1 software does not recognize my zune when i connect it to my computer. When I plug my zune in to the usb port the computer does recognize it. i have windows xp how do i fix this
