It’s probably more cost effective to just get hosting from a webhosting company. You can get hosting starting at $5.95 a month at http://www.doggydomains.com They also have dedicated servers if you need more control and traffic

You will need a web server, router, software such as, Windows Server 200/03 or Free like Cent Os, BSD, or FreeBSD, Hard drives, Raid card, Dedicated. IP Address, you’ll need a domain name (however, it’s not needed), STABLE, RELIABLE connection to the Internet at least DSL Minimum. That is pretty much about it. You can host a website with those items.
However, for hosting just a website I would suggest you just purchase web hosting from a company such at, http://www.freewebhosting.ws as you will not have to worry about keep up the server, connection, etc…This would all be done for you.
