   i would just go in under the start menu.then click accessories.and finally system information(win xp based system) this will give you the speed and size. under physical memory.

   I would not install any software to learn more about the ram in your computer. Often times “extra utility” software like this just brings on risk of extra “stuff” being installed. Which leads to your machine working slower.
   I think these questions and answers will provide you with the information you are looking for.
   1. How much ram is in my computer? Right click on “my computer” and goto properties. In the bottom right corner the amount of ram will be listed. IE 512, 1024 etc. Please note, it may display slightly less than those numbers. A very small part of your ram is dedicated to video.
   2. How do I find out what type of ram I have and how much ram my computer will hold? Visit the website of your manufacturer, they all offer this info free of charge. Just provide your model. You need the proper speed ie pc2700 and the max amount so you aren’t wasting your money.
