I already filed his 2006 taxes but today he left his 2005 taxes for me to do. The 2005 taxes are from another state.

you don’t
Previous year’s taxes must be filed on paper. They can’t be filed electronically, at least federal can’t. Your state may allow it, but you would have to find a copy of last year’s Turbo Tax software to have the correct forms and calculations.
Each year’s version is different, because the rules and amounts (like exemptions and standard deductions) are different. So you can’t prepare a 2005 return with 2006 software.
Also, you can’t efile 2005 returns, you’ll have to mail it.
You can’t. You will have to get Turbotax 2005.
You can’t. You’ll have to purchase and download the 2005 Federal and State versions from the Turbo Tax website.
Go to taxact.com and download the preparer edition or the regular version, if they still have it, for tax year 2005. Should be free. I used the preparer edition for a little while, it is a really good program.
