Gateway Laptop With Xp Keeps Freezing On Start Up?
I have the screen where it’s 3 user accounts, and I’ll click my account, and it might freeze while “loading settings” or once I get in and click on IE or Y!msgr or something. It’s not specific to my username login.
The computer was donated by a friend, and I’ve noticed this box saying “you might have counterfit software” but until I can afford to change it over I’ve just clicked okay and things have been fine up until the last four days – the other day I’d press power and the screen wouldn’t even come on. I unplugged it for a full 24 hours from power supply, but it’s still loading and freezing.
I have spybot for spyware removal; avast for antivirus which is always on, and have cleaned my cookies. I was trying to do “disk cleanup” the first time it froze, as it was trying to calculate how much space I could free up.
Do I need to start this PC in safe mode? If so, how, and then what? Other than that idea, I do not know what to do. HELP!

What Is The Best Software To Use To Convert My Videos Into A Format Which I Can Play Them On My Archos 504?
I have lots of videos on my computer all in various different formats requiring different codec’s.
I wish to know what software I would require to convert all my videos which will allow me to watch them on my Archos 504.
I may consider purchasing the optional codec’s that Archos offer but would I really need them?
I don’t mind paying for this software as long as its not a complete rip off.
