Is There Software To Simplify Renaming Large Numbers Of Scanned Photos?

I’m scanning large numbers of old family photos and would like to label each file after all have been scanned, like “Granny’s Christmas.jpg” instead of “scan8153.jpg”. Is there software that allows sequential entry of descriptions then renames these files in a batch? This would greatly speed things up !
