If I Download A Piece Of Software And Use It For Illegal Activities?

If i download a piece of software which thousands of other people have downloaded from the same website, i didn’t protect my I.P address and used my home computer then used the software for an illegal activity how will the police catch me? and any suggestions on how to throw them of the trail? thanks

If that is what you ARE doing, then I hope your computer explodes from a particularly nasty virus …. pretty much at the same time as they turn up with the handcuffs.
