I have downloaded frostwire but can’t watch movies. I have divx and i need to kow how come i still can’t watch movies. What kind of files should I are the best to download,avi or what. I have an imac.

a) It doesn’t matter how you got the file. That has no bearing on whether or not you can play it.
b) AVI is not a media type. It’s a container. The type of container doesn’t tell you what sort of video or audio you have. It gives us a hint, but not an answer.
c) Do one of the following:
1) Determine what type of video/audio you have an install the proper codec.
2) Install lots of codecs and hope that you find the right one by chance (this may sound inefficient, but it actually works for most people).
3) Install VLC or mplayer and hope that they can decode your file `out of the box` so to speak.
You have the best movie player already, QuickTime Player.
Here’s the simple way it works for me. Download and install Perian, link below. It provides codecs for all types of video files; it’s a one-stop fix for QuickTime. For a particular type of file, choose one of them (”movie.AVI”, for example). Just click once on the file to highlight it. Go to the top menu bar, File > Get Info. That will open a small window. Look for “Open With”. Click the name shown to get the drop list. Choose “QuickTime Player.app”. Click the “Change All” button and agree to change all.
