IF you still have the link or the file of the update then you can just reload it. If not then contact apple on the site and they should send it to you again or let you know the protocol for it. I would find out first before I set it back to the default.

No go right ahead and restore ALL settings. You WILL be fine. You’ll still have all the updates you bought.

Most likely but what use can you have of a mess iPod, you must restore it. I think you’ll only lose the songs only

No. When you log into your itunes account it will download the software update you purchased provided your itouch is plugged into your PC.

you will still have the upgrades and all the good stuff. you will have to sync all of your music, videos, and pictures back onto it though.
