How Do You Become A Qa Software Tester?

I was thinking becoming a Quality Assurance Software Tester. Now what is the path to get there? Do I need to go to school? Or can I just self -taugh myself for that? I am 45 so that will be ideal for me as I am not very good at programming. Thank you.

If you’ve gone to school, then you have enough school to become a QA tester.
You need to know how to use a computer. You need to have a least basic ideas about how stuff works (keyboard, mouse, and computer programs)
You need know know about the different kinds of tests like regression testing, GUI testing, bounds tests, negative testing, database testing, and whatever else kind of testing they will do at the company.
There are two worlds on testing right now….manual and automated. Manual testing is just going through a web site/program and finding bugs. Automated testing is using programs like Mecury WinRunner to test an application. This requires some programming skill, which is specific to WinRunner.
You can be self taught, but you need to improve your programming if you want to make money otherwise you’ll be a low paid QA person.
I’d look at newhorizons for training if I were you. It’ll cost you money, but in the long run it’s an investment.
