What Software Needed To Edit The Video?

I love recording video songs from my tv running through pc. I want to hide the logo or tv names after recording. Like for
eg:- I record the video songs from MTV and after finishing i want to edit that video and hide the logo MTV or morph it.
So can u recommend a very good software, which dont alter the quality and originality. I already tested two softwares, forget the name though. But not upto the level..
