i want to backup mt hole hardrive so that if any thing happens i can restore it back to the point i created them.
i have tryed other software but it always has to have the software in order to do the backup.
Please help. Thanks!

if you have XP Use the Windows backup. That will work just fine for you. If you have XP home you will need your disk to install it. If you have XP pro, it will be installed under programs, accessories, system tools, backup.

The is a very good program out there called GHOST. I highly recommend it for your backup needs. This program also comes in handy for crashes or loss of files from virus hits. Well worth trying and using.
