And I paid for it. Nothing worth having in life is free. You don’t need special software to write, trust me.
You can write your book on any word processing program you want. It’s formatting it for physical publication that takes special software.
I’d never use writing software. Just word processing. Any kind is fine. If you do not have Word, WordPerfect, or anything else, you can get free word processing at Open Office. It’s perfectly adequate for writing novels.
Microsoft? Works well for me…
