I went to the Apple Store recently and decided to try out one of the Mac computers they have in the store. While on it, I discovered a software on it called GarageBand. It allows you mix prerecorded sounds together to form your own custom song. I thought it was really cool and what I want to know is: Is there any FREE software out there that is similar to GarageBand that works on a PC and is compatible with Windows Vista Home Premium?

The only thing I’ve found that’s close is Mixcraft. It’s not free, but you can download a free trial to use it for the time being.
