I have a good antivirus software on our computer, but it is not strong enough for the adds. They keep coming and make the use of the computer difficult. Can anyone suggest a good free adware programm I could use of recomm anything at all even to be paid for. At the moment I’m using a programm recomended by Microsoft, it is from Lavasoft, the free version. It works so so. Please help.

problem is i have just 110gb space left. i have no idea what has taken up all of the space.
my program folder is 9gb
windows folder is 20gb
perflogs is 2.5gb
users folder 35gb
recovery drive is 10gb
what exactly is taking up all the space? could it be the microsoft updates [what folder are the updates saved, i can't seem to locate them to determine their size].
i have uninstalled all useless softwares!! pls help!!!

hi, currently i have two anti-virus softwares installed in my computer, AVG Free and Panda. to increase boot speed and lower ram use, i would like to do away with either of the two. which would you guys recommend which would give me good protection and at the same time increase boot speed and lower ram use?

while installing ubuntu, i accedentally allowed it to take full disk space. Later, when booting up I found windows is not showing. Please someone help me. I have very valuable files in my windows. I have recovery cds, but thats not matter for me. As I want the files back. I searched a little bit and found some softwares like testdisk. And onething I am new to linux. I do not know anything about how to handle linux, except some windows stuff. Please some one help me.Thanks.

I recently upgraded from Norton Antivirus 2005 and now I have Norton Internet Security 2006 on my pc with Windows 98 installed. Since the upgrade it takes at least 1000% longer in time to boot up and also to log on to the internet. I know of a free antivirus program from Avast.com and I think it may be better to replace the Norton with it. Has anyone had any experience with Avast? The Norton 2005 had less security features than the new 2006 program and now I believe my pc is overwhelmed even though I had enough capacity to load the 2006 software. My son has used Avast and he says it can’t hurt to try it. I’m a little leery and think since it is a free program that I might be inundated with all kinds of spam. Has any user of Avast out there had any security problem or dissatisfaction with Avast?

Itunes is telling I need to reinstall itunes, because;
“the registry settings used by itunes for burning CDs is missing. This is possibly due to installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall itunes.”
I did just have Dell put a new CD player/burner in. Also I have tried removing itunes, and reinstalling it. Apples support site says to remove the Gear Driver software and install updated software. I want to know if this is safe.

My primary IDE master is saying it is not detected and so is the IDE slave on my computer, also when I run the recovery disk it says it cannot find the hard drive. What can i do besides calling the manufacturer that charges a boat load of monies. Are there any hardware softwares that can locate the hard drive??? please anything that is helpful…i really do not want to go buy another hard drive.
