I am starting a Tech Support business and was wondering if anyone knew soft ware I could use to test and hardware and other things either from software built into windows (vista or xp) or third party soft ware (cheap or free). Or if anyone else does this what do you use?

DO you mean to determine what hardware is in the PC?http://www.filehippo.com/download_everes…
I use http://www.pcpitstop.com myself. It’s an online scanner that gives advice about the pc hardware such as upgrading ram or memory as well as optimization advice.
The website is free to use but they shamelessly push “for sale” programs lol. If you are going into business for this you will probably want something better than this but it’s a good resource anyway.
I would also recommend Hijackthis for software issues.
Good luck
