How Do I Stop A Random Window From Popping Up That Is Trying To Sell Me Anti-virus Software?

Please help! I had to delete an expired 2005 version of McAffe because it was stopping my Internet connection from connecting. Now a Windows Internet Explorer box pops up full of typos (the quote is word for word what it says) and says:
“ATTENTION! If your computer was struck by the virus, you could suffer data loss, erratic behaviour PC freezes and creahes.
Detect and remove viruses before they damage your computer! Antivirus 2009 will perform a 100% FREE and quick scan of your computer for Viruses Spyware and Adware.
Do you want to install Antivirus 2009 to scan your computer for malware now? (Recommended)”
Then you can click either OK or Cancel. When I click Cancel a web page automatically opens directing me to this site: http://softwaredesign6.com/2009/1/freesc…
It’s really annoying and I do have the freeware program Spybot – Search and Destroy. Is there any freeware that you could recommend? Perhaps some that doesn’t expire or leave you with a bunch of unwanted added programs. If not, is there anyway to stop this from happening? This never happened before deleting that old program. If you would take the time to help I would be very, very grateful. Thank you so much.

If you have an anti-virus, I suggest you make sure it has the latest virus definitions and run a scan with it in Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking. Both often prevent malware from protecting itself. If you don’t have one, many people here swear by AVG (it’s free).
You already have Spybot S&D, so I suggest you also download Ad-Aware 2008 (it’s free), install it, update it and run them both in Safe Mode. Spybot S&D IS updated, isn’t it?
Also, turn off System Restore to evict any copies of bad stuff that might be lurking there.
To get into Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking:
    1. Log out and reboot your machine.
    2. When the machine starts the reboot sequence, press the F8 key repeatedly.
    3. Select Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking from the resulting menu.
    4. When the login screen comes up, log in as Administrator. By default, Administrator has no password.
    5. The machine will continue booting, but the Windows desktop will look different.
    6. When you’re finished doing what you need to do, log out and reboot back into normal mode.
Note that even if the anti-malware programs get rid of the malware, they may not be able to reverse the effects. Search the Web for possible fixes.
Update and run everything regularly, not just when you think you already have malware.
    Good luck.

that itself is a virus popping up that window. I suggest malwarebytes anti-malware , in order to find it search that name and its free and very good at clearing your bugs.

If u want a free anitirus then download Avira Antivir Personal….it has the best detection rates as far as free AV are concerned.
If u can buy a paid one then Kaspersky or NOD would be great!
Also, install a firewall, i would suggest COMODO Firewall Pro as it is free! and block the site from that firewall, so that u dont get that problem of pop up.
Also, use spyware blaster, as it will block unwanted popups, spywares from loading into ur browser.
Use SnoopFree Privacy Shield, so that u dont allow anyone to snoop what u are doing online.
Lastly, use Mozilla Firefox as ur main browser and use “adblock plus” so that it blocks that pop up. You can also add the file in ad-block plus if it doesn’t block that pop up by default.
    Good Luck!
