I Formatted A Hard Drive. How Do I Recover The Data That Used To Be There? Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

So I was helping my neighbor out with her hp computer. She had one partition with windows that had all her documents and one partition that also had windows but nothing else (just for speed). 2 windows partitions. The second one was missing a sound driver so i got her the windows recovery discs from hp but the recovery disc decided to reformat the whole drive and overwrite everything with its bloated copy of windows. She NEEDS her outlook data from the old partition but it is gone and she is freaking out. If you have the names of specific software that would be great

My Ipod Touch Is Screwed Up! Help!?

i was updating my ipod touch, and i unplugged it while it was updating. then it was frozen on the same screen that had a little apple on it, and so i pressed the home and turn on/off switch so that i could put it in recovery mode and reset it to factory settings. I went onto itunes so that i could hit restore, but it gave me the “Software for this iPod is not currently available. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes and try again.” So, i got the latest version of itunes and tried to click recovery, but that same message popped up. what do i do?

What Is The Procedure To Erase Vista Home Basic And Reinstall Xp?

I had vista oem home premium installed. Several days later I start getting information from microsoft that I had to activate the software. The installer made a new installation, activated it with all the information that was required. Days later, the same nagging from microsoft. We decided to install the home basic version instead. Just two days ago, there was a slight hint as to the legality of the installation. Updates were done as microsoft required. I have my fingers crossed. But here is my dilemma: media center is not accessible on my HP MEDIA CENTER COMPUTER 2005. I cannot see none of my recordings that I have stored on my external storage. My installer is away on vacation. I want to erase vista and reinstall the XP version. The F10 button on the keyboard does not provide for a recovery , nor my recovery discs prompt for reinstalling XP. Can anyone out there help?

How Do I Make My Laptop Dvd Turn On?

My laptop DVD drive stopped playing DVDs and CDs and now it sounds like its not even turning on aswell, but makes a short whining noise when opened and closed? I checked for driver updates and it doesnt need them, so it has to be the little box ticked when i first put a Software DVD in the other day. Ive messed round with every setting that might work in control panel/computer/and Autoplay and even tried system recovery half a dozen times to no effect: all but one of the times it had an “unspecified fault” and wasnt recovered and by the third try the screen started doing wierd stuff, which got worse on attempts 4,5, and 6. I dont have a Recovery Disk by the way which I should have, so im just taking the machine back: its brand new.
Also, the DVD drive in Computer thinks im trying to burn to a disk, not playback (from) one, when I click on it. Any thoughts what went wrong with this?

Unable To Recover Hard Drive?

I am unable to recover the hard drive of my desktop computer. The problem first occurred when my mouse kept double clicking everything and I was unable to open up a anti spyware software to scan it or the start menu to at least restart the computer.
I tried restarting then safe mode, but my mouse was unable to work. So finally, I decided to recover the hard drive. I was able to use the mouse in the recovery menu by using enter instead of double clicking. However, once the recovery was done, a menu popped up to wait and then another window popped up over it saying usage unzipper filename folder. I tried googling that line and I came up with nothing. Unfortunately, the computer is frozen after that menu pops up. I am unable to recover and now it tells me hal.dll is missing when I try to boot normally.
My guess is that my computer is loaded with viruses and spyware since my parents have been the ones using it and they’re terrible with computers.
Thanks

If I Use Cd-r Will This Program Work Well..?

Ok so I deleted a few files and wanted to back em up. I want to use data recovery wizard, but it tells me – If you decide to use the Data Recovery Wizard, don’t install it on the same disk where you want to retrieve the file from, or you might overwrite the data you’re trying to recover. Launch the software from a CD-ROM or an External hard drive. And if you download it directly from the Internet, don’t download it onto the disk from which you deleted the file.
Does that I mean I put in a CD-R and install the program there and restore from their but what i ask myself is if i restore there can i move it back to C:

Cleaning The Hard Drive?

I want to completely format the hard drive on my computer and dont know how to. When I tried it a few weeks ago with the recovery disc it just erased the files ( or said that is what would happen) that are currently on the hard drive and restore it to the factory settings but this didnt happen as I then only had a very small amount of disc space after re installing the software so it appears to have just deleted some files but not restored the computer to factory settings. the computer is just over 1 year old running on Windows XP and I now think it might be best to start with a completely formatted hard drive and load a completely fresh version of Vista, other than buy a new hard drive is there anyway at all to format the one I have without using the recovery disc?
