Xp Home – Blue Screens …?

Guys,
I just purchased a reburbished Dell XPS M2010 laptop win Windows XP Home edition. Everything seems to work ok, but I’ve got what I consider to be a very annoying problem. I install a lot of applications on my laptop and so far after every major install of a piece of software, upon rebooting as the desktop loads, it suddenly blue screens. Now, if I turn off the laptop and power it back on and press F8, I do a “boot to the last known good configuration”.
The really strange thing is that once I do this, the application I just had installed remains, and it then does NOT blue screen. However, it will on the next install.
I guess I can live with this issue, but it seems like something’s really hosed somewhere, and I am guessing it is with the operating system. However, it is a reburbished system and I am guessing one thing Dell does is reformat and reload the operating system.
Anybody have any suggestions for me? I should add that the FIRST application I loaded yesterday, which was a game, did NOT blue screen. Rather, when I rebooted the system, the desktop never even loaded – it stayed in the black screen where it displays the BIOS version, etc. The only way I fixed this was by booting up with the XP CD and loading the System Recovery Console in which I then ran a chkdsk /p /r – it ran for nearly an hour before completing. But it did fix that problem and the desktop came back to life.
It just seems like an abnormally high number of issues pertaining to loading software, which had better be very routine to an operating system by this point in time.
If I reload the OS with the same copy, what’s to say I won’t experience the same behavior???

Help!! How Do I Uninstall Antivirus 2009??!?

Okay, I downloaded the free version of Antivirus 2009, and I didn’t register it because I realized I had to pay for it. I knew it would be harmful if I left it unregistered on my computer so i went to All Programs and hit Uninstall under the Antivirus 2009 tab. It didn’t work, and my computer is telling me that I still have it downloaded on my computer. I have Windows XP 2003 software, and my laptop is a Dell Vostro, if that helps. Please tell me how i can get rid of it!

Wanting To Reformat My Laptop, Help?

Hey guys
so school here is about to start up (September 2nd we’re starting 2 weeks earlier, ew) and I want a fresh start with my computer. It’s been acting a little slow and just want it to be like brand new almost. I had my PC done lots of times over the years professionaly at Superior Computers, they’re amazing people there. However, I need to reformat my laptop. It’s a Fujitsu A series laptop (A6110). I’m not quite sure how to do this or what each CD it came with means. I wanna make sure I know everything that I’m doing before I completely erase everything
the following Discs I have are: [4]
Recovery and Utility Disc (Disque de restrauration et d’utilitaires)[Windows Vista]
Drivers and Applications Restore Disc (Disque des Pilotes et Applications)[Windows Vista]
Built-in Camera Software (AcSoft WebCam Companion 2)
CyberLink PowerProducer, Power Director and Make Disc
Aside from the Built-in Camera Software and CyberLink… Discs what do the other 2 discs do.
Is there any way I can save pictures? or do i have to email them to myself in order to save them.
What about internet connection, will i be able to automatically sign into my internet connection again? We have Bell and right now i’m using the wireless part or will I have to set it up again?
Uhm, if anyone has any advice or could answer these questions that would totally be awesome!!
oh another question, does restoring give me a different/new IP address?
thanks again :)

Recently Bought New Hp Laptop, Having Major Issues?

I purchased a new laptop 1 week ago, I got it home and took out the manual and followed the instructions which said before I could use any of the manufacturers preinstalled software I needed to “install” it. So I went to where it told me and followed the install instructions for all the pre installed software. After wards, the HP adviser said I did not have virus protection. I went to NORTON (which was supposed to be free for 60 days) and it was not there. I called support (no help) went to Norton’s web site to purchase, after downloading norton I got an error that stated I could not install because there was a better version of norton on my system. I had to download norton uninstall program and remove the Norton that came on the laptop (which I could not open anyway). I have got that done but hp adviser still says I do not have virus protection and I cannot access the preinstalled web cam that came with the computer. Also I am seeing that the D drive (recovery) only has 1.8% percent available. Have I totally messed up this computer, I am thinking there are other manufacturer installed programs that I cannot open either. Is there a quick fix or do I need professional help????

What’s Wrong With My Dvd Rw Drive?

I have Windows Vista and a DVD RW drive (E drive).
Whenever I try to install software or a game, the install usually fails the first time. Sometimes the second and third and fourth times, too. I don’t know why.
The problem is that, when I remove the CD/DVD, close the tray, open the tray up again, and place the CD back into the drive to re-run the CD or DVD, my computer won’t run the disc. Nothing happens. Not only that, but when I try to run the disc from My Computer, my E drive is missing from the list. I only see the C drive and the D (recovery) drive.
The only way to fix it is to restart my computer. Well, tonight I had to restart my computer FOURTEEN TIMES because of a particularly stubborn game.
Does this sound like a hardware problem or a Vista problem? This occurs with a variety of software and games, so I assume it’s not the discs I’m using, but rather my computer. This is a new computer still under warranty, so I’d like it fixed if possible.
Thanks for your help.
