How To Get Rid Of The Prompt “you May Be A Victim Of Software Counterfeiting”?

Before I was connected to the internet my pc did not receive the prompt “you may be a victim of software counterfeiting”. That happened when I accept new update offered my microsoft. If I only knew it would ask for product key which I do not have, I’d rather ignore microsoft’s ad. Now this reminder is really distracting me and mess my desktop setting. What can I do beside reformatting the hard disk? Thank you.

Microsoft is attempting to prevent unauthorized use of the Windows software, and if your copy is legitimate, it means someone somewhere else has figured out a product key that matches yours and registered that number illegally with Microsoft before you did.
You will have to prove your copy of Windows is legitimate to get a product key from Microsoft.

You need to buy a legitimate copy of Windows. They have a pretty decent discount if you accept their offer. A free alternative would be Linux.http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download
