I just learned that when you submitt a resume online, employers will often use a software to pre-screen resumes for specific language. My understanding is that if your resume does not contain the “language” your resume will not have a chance to be reviewed or considered.
I have tried to research this online, but I just keep comming up with information on how to create a resume.

Mostly what the software is looking for is key words relating to the position. This would be job duties (Microsoft Office, ten-key, degree) that they list in the job advertisement. How many years of experience they want, what skills do they want, how much education do they want? If they ask for a degree, the software will look for that degree or a degree or else it will eliminate your resume from consideration, etc.
