Last night I was about to run google updater when all of a sudden all non folders/shortcuts on my desktop disappeared.
I have done a virus scan and chkdsk.
no virus reported but chkdsk came up with some errors but the recovered file was only 256kb where as the files totalled over 500mb.
I tried a file recovery software (getdataback) but that didn’t recover them.
Any advice.
MY specs are:
Hp pavillion 2750ea
Windows Vista HE SP1
2GB ram
220GB HDD (C drive)
Kapsersky internet security 7
thank you

The only way to recover them is to restore them manually or you could try a sys restore to a point before this happened
