Okay, do you still have your recovery disk?
Go to BIOS during startup. Use your directional keys to move to the next tab. While doing that, in one of the tabs, you should be able to spot something like this:
1. Hard Disk
2. DVD-RW Drive D:
3. Drive C:
Although it depends on how your laptop was configured these are the priority list of which hardware to start up first. Here, Hard Disk will be the first to start up but we need to boot up from the recovery disk. What ever is the address or name of your disk reader, make it number 1 in anyway you can. There should be some instructions available in the current screen you are viewing to rearrange the list. With all of that done you should have something that looks like this:
1. DVD-RW Drive D:
2. Hard Disk
3. Drive C:
This is just an example, the names might appear differently in your laptop but the concept still applies in BIOS. Exit BIOS and save your settings. Pop the recovery disk in then restart your laptop. If you have a recovery software installed in your laptop then there’s no problem. Wait for the system to reboot then you can begin to restore your laptop back to its original settings. Make sure, while using BIOS, that you not touch anything else but rearranging the priority list. Read the instructions carefully, becauce BIOS is the master of the entire laptop.
You will have to boot from the restoration cd’s then just follow the prompts
I have an HP laptop. When I have problems it is usually caused by the battery or the electrical cables. Check the cables for signs of fraying and check your battery to see if it is holding a charge. If either occurs replace the bad part.
