Are antivirus and spyware two different things, because i know that if you have two of the same type of protection software on your computer it causes problems. Could you please recommend some? Okay, basically I want to reinstall windows xp home on my hard drive. Problem is my computer never came with any software such as the winxp cd. Instead, there’s two partitions (c and d) usually when i reformat I never have to insert a cd or anything because it picks up the info from the D partition.
1) So, what do I do if I clear my hard drive OR get a new hard drive? I’m not computer savvy at all so i’m hoping someone here knows what to do. Is a “boot disk” or “recovery tools disk” the same? If so, how do i make one? Is there a code/key I should remember or something?
Also, i’m preparing to use Darik’s boot and nuke this time.
2) Would this delete every single partition on my hard drive?
and
3) after using DBaN, do I insert the winxp cd and and let it download? Or is there some highly/mildly technical aspect of it?

My free trial of an antivirus software(Trend-Micro and McAfee) ran out(that came with my computer) and it requires a promotional code. I don’t know where to find it. Anyway. I’m bad about backups although I’ve been burned before. Do you backup the whole drive? What the best way to do incremental backups? Do you use the archive bit? If not, why? Which software do you use? Can any CD burning software project automatically know if files in the source directory are new and include that in the next burn? Any software that can let you use a thumb drive until you have enough data to warrant a CD and then repeat? Are there any programs that can track changes across the whole hard drive from bootup to shutdown and then prompt you asking which new files are important and should be included in the next backup?

I have an old linksys router, and I actually just got it to work. The problem is that I don’t have the software that came with it. Does anyone know where I can d/l software to set up a security password? The linksys site doesn’t have it.

I am looking for a software which will record video from a USB webcam onto a hard-disk.
It should preferably have variable sizes (320×240 and 640×480).
A motion sensing capability would be better. ie, if there is enough motion, the recording should start. I have seen this capability in the software that accompanied Logitech quickcam pro 3000.
Any suggestions?

I need a handheld computing device running OpenOffice Calc (v. much preferred) — or MS Excel, if Calc isn’t an option — or some “equivalent” spreadheet software.
I prefer at least 320 x 480 pixels for the display, but can get by with something smaller.
It can have a QWERTY kybd that flips open to reveal the display (and, when closed, doubles as a protective cover), or the kybd can be digital (on the display), or the kybd can be on the front of the device.
Full recovery — meaning display of the last open spreadsheet page & complete functionality of the spreadsheet s/ware — from “sleep” mode needs to be well under 3 seconds.
Battery life needs to be <= 10 hours of normal spreadsheet use between recharges, and I don’t want a battery that develops “memory:” taking advantage of my battery’s full potential shouldn’t mean I have to fully deplete my battery before recharging it.
I don’t need wireless anything (gotta plug-in to recharge anyway), but a (USB/E-net) dock would be nice.
