What Happens To My Pc If I Were To Uninstall Apple Software Update?

On my (Windows based) computer the only Apple software I have installed are iTunes 7.0 and Apple Software Update. I am a strong believer in installing the minimal amount of software possible, hence I have ignored all of the attempts to ask me to upgrade to iTunes 7.2.
I am considering uninstalling Apple Software Update and I have two questions.
1. If I were to uninstall Apple Software Update, will this “hurt” my iTunes?
2. With Apple Software Update installed, does this result in anything that’s always running in the background?

I have programmed a software that is downloadable from a website. User installs this in his or her computer. I want to track the no. of downloads and the no. of successful installs, updates and uninstalls of this software. I wonder how to do that? Or what is the best open source or paid system that can effectively do this?

I’m currently running PSP official update 4.05 (no custom software or anything) and I was wondering if it’s possible to capture gameplay without a webcam? I saw a plug in called LE recovery and capture but I think it was for custom. Does anyone know a way? Thanks.
