Laptop Dying! Urgent Help Needed!?

The Problem:-
When i startup my laptop switches to the normal dell loading screen except it has vertical green dotted lines running in the background. It continues to load. It then reaches the normal windows xp loading screen, except it has yellow dotted lines running down the background (all of these dotted lines are at even intervals in groups of 4). This is where the real trouble starts. Once it finishes loading on the windows screen it fades to a black screen but with the backlighting still on. It then flickers to a completly black screen. and stays like that, even when i leave it for an hour and a half. I am currently using one of my parents laptops. My laptop has had graphics card issues in the past (BSODs) but these have been resolved with the purchase of a cooling pad and regular updating of video drivers. I can currently only use my laptop in safe menu by pressing F12 as soon as i switch my laptop on. These are my computer specs from my Xfire gaming rig:-
Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
Processor: Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2600 @ 2.16GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 2046MB RAM
Hard Drive: 110GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GTX
Monitor: Default Monitor
Sound Card: SigmaTel Audio
Speakers/Headphones: Harman Kardon/ Headset with mic
Keyboard: USB Root Hub
Mouse: USB Root Hub
Mouse Surface: Logitech Laser Optical mouse
Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_qfe.070227-2300)
Motherboard:
Computer Case:
My laptop is a Dell XPS M1710 with Windows XP Proffesional Media Center.
I would be very grateful if anyone could help me with this as this could be the end of my laptop.
I have looked at forums online and they only suggest buying expensive software or using a Windows recovery disk which i don’t have, and didn’t come with my laptop.
I please don’t tell me to ring up Microsoft, i have thought of that already.
Hope you can fix this :-D

Symantec Epp Vs Av Freeware?

My school used to offer Symantec EndPoint Protection for free to students but it doesn’t anymore. I downloaded it before, but I realized that it does take up a lot of resources. Would it be worth it to download a different free antivirus software with the risk of not being able to get Symantec EPP back?
If so, which do you think is better: Avast, Avira, or AVG

Password Problem(s) !!!! ———– Windows Installation In The Same Partition Of The Hard Disk Cracked !!?

There is a problem I’ve got.
I have got a problem with this software Anti-Secure Ultimate Password Recovery,
I need to protect my computer completely !!!!!
I mean I am the Administrator and nobody can log onto my laptop except me. But, if I Install Windows with some another name, all my files can be accessed.
I mean to say that…
….when you Install Windows (any Windows like XP, Vista, etc.)
it gets installed to the default directory….
C:\WINDOWS
But then IF I Install Windows the 2nd time to a different folder like
C:\WINDOWED or C:\Any Folder Name
Windows CAN be installed in the same partition !!!!
And hence, All Files can be accessed even if you are the administrator on the previously installed windows !!!!!!!!!
WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM ???
WE ARE SAFE NO MORE !!!!!!!

I’m Interested In Buying Acronis True Image 11 Home, And I Had A Few Questions About It.?

For one thing, it says that it backs up your system, and all the files/programs on it. Does this mean that I could use it to create a backup of ALL the software on my computer, which could be burned to say, DVD, and I could use that to reinstall all the programs/drivers on my computer? I use Office 2007, Visual Studio 2008, and Adobe CS3 a lot, and I’m wondering if Acronis would allow me to reinstall all of these right along with Windows. I guess to clarify: could I use Acronis to create a series of DVD’s that would function just like the Windows Recovery CD, but with all my software, preinstalled? I am NOT interested in using this to duplicate the software I paid for, but rather to reinstall all my software at once. I normally re-image my computer every month to keep it in optimal condition, and I would like to have just one install, as opposed to installing all the software individually. I realize this was a long question, but thank you SO MUCH for your help!
