What would be a good website to check for ONLINE PUBLISHING free software? The current file is in Acrobat. Can I edit and then re-publish using that program?

I just recently upgraded to XP from Windows ME and my C drive is 97% full – basically the computer is so slow it’s unusable. It’s an older Sony Vaio with a partitioned drive. I am concerned about losing the software that came with the computer if I uninstall XP from the C drive and then reinstall on the D drive. I can’t do Partition Magic merge – lack of cash to spend anymore right now. Eventually I will combine the two partitions. In the meantime, what is the best course of action – install on D drive and then uninstall on C drive? And how do you uninstall an operating system? I still have the recovery CDs for original software that came with the computer etc. but they are all from the Windows ME system, so I doubt those would be helpful. Please enlighten this non-techie with a brilliant answer to this dilemma!! Thank you.

When I had to reload Windows XP program, it lost the address to “My Documents” (old), so that when you now click on “My Documents” (new) it is of course empty. I did not panic though, because I know all my million-and-one documents are still on the hard drive– it was not erased or reformated or anything–it is just that they are temporarily “lost” because the icon no longer points to them. When I trace the path thru C:\Documents & Settings/etc., and click on the old “My Documents” it says I am not allowed to get in. Yet I was and still am the only System Administrator on the PC! I know all my old Word documents are still there because when I ran the free On Track Easy Recovery Professional software, it showed my entire former line up of subdirectories with all the various named documents I am looking for therein. The only trouble is, they want $200.00 (two hundred smackers) just for the right to re-save them all in the current (empty) “My Documents” folder. How do I re-map?

Theoretically speaking, is it feasible for me to install the “SafeSurf” software along with Comodo Firewall Pro free version, if I’m already running AVG AntiVirus (also free version)? Or is it slowing down my system more than necessary to run both of them? Will AVG real-time scanning in the background catch the same things that Comodo SafeSurf will, or should I keep both running?
Just was wondering. I’m reformatting my computer later on today, because it seems kind of slow. So I was just wondering if I need to include installation of Comodo’s SafeSurf along with the firewall (they give the option not to) if I’m already running AVG Antivirus. Suggestions?
