Im going to try very hard to get into MIT to study software engineering. I am still in Year 9 and have been learning programming for 2 yearsand im very interested in it. I know Delphi, Perl and PHP. What would u suggest for me to learn now?
What subjects would i need to choose next year and which ones do i have to be good at, apart from maths?
How difficult is it to get into MIT?

I’d suggest C++ or Java as your next language. Something a bit more commonplace, a bit more technical, and compiled. Just regular C would be good too, but C++ is probably better.
For your sake, math, but other computer topics would be good too. Otherwise, MIT likes theoretical science related stuff, I believe. Physics, maybe chemistry or biology. And depending on your course availability, electronics, or mechanical engineering courses.
But MIT also likes just general awesomeness. A friend of mine was refused with quite literally straight A’s, a perfect math SAT score (not sure about his English score), and a pretty decent knowledge in computers for a high school student. After being turned down, his adviser recommended lots more extracurricular activities, most importantly LEADING roles. Not just projects you’ve done on your own, either– something that shows you can interact with people and do a good job of it.
