What Is The Best Protection Software Ever ?

I have a very important and really sensitive documents in my computer, and any hack or monitoring attempt will make a serious difference in my life
i need to completely secure my computer and stop worrying about it, I have purchased BitDefnder 2008 and everything seems fine, but im not 100% relaxed about it
Is BitDefender the best software out there? are there any better ones ?

    Encryption is the answer, not firewalls. If it’s properly encrypted it doesn’t matter if someone gets the file, they cant read it. Keeping several copies of the encrypted file in different places ensures you never loose it even if the laptop gets stolen. Set up a virtual encrypted drive on your computer and put everything in it. The virtual drive image file can be copied and put anywhere.
    Whatever you do don’t forget the password which should be long and random and don’t loose the keys.

    Well, first of all, if you have sensitive data, that data should be encrypted. I’d highly recommend TrueCrypt for that, but any encryption software will do if you’re comfortable with it.
    There’s good reason for you not to be relaxed about having BitDefender 2008. It’s no worse than any other protection software, but protection software isn’t really that effective anyway.
    Good security requires a multi-layered approach, and the least important layer by far is running some kind of anti-malware program (in fact, if you take care of all the other layers, you don’t even need an anti-malware program using up extra resources).
    In order of importance:
    1. Create and use almost exclusively a limited user account instead of the default administrator account Windows sets you up with
    2. Read up on social engineering and how to avoid it
    3. Don’t download illegal copies of software, music, or movies
    4. Set Windows updates to install automatically
    5. Make regular backups. If possible, back up your entire installation (using Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image)

    If they are important or sensitive you should consider placing the documents on a dvd or cdrom in a secure place not on the computer.

    Hmm.. I don’t hear about BitDefender.
    I’m using Avast Home Edition+Spyware Cease.
    It has been half a year that there is nothing bad to me:)

    it is the best
    it costs but it worths
