Is There Any Way To Recover Files From A Mac When They’ve Been Deleted For A Few Months?

I have a lot of files on my computer and I don’t really keep track of them but one file, a 300-page document I desperately need back, must’ve been deleted or corrupted in the last few months. I’ve been using an external hard drive since January and I don’t know if I accidentally deleted some files in the process of copying them..but in any case, I only have files through the letter J. I don’t really know how a hard drive works, but if it’s been a few months, have I written over what would have been my file? Is it even worth it to buy expensive data recovery software or should I just sulk and never get back my document?

  1. Aase says:

you could try doing a restore back.

  2. Yes if you have Leopard and Time machine, no if you only have Tiger and haven’t done regular backups.
