I recently purchased a Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista Home Edition installed. Is this the best or better software or just the most popular.
I noticed a lot of computers today have this software. My other computer came equiped with Windows XP, which I was dissatisifed with. Don’t want to go through this again and I’m willing to uninstall my Windows Vista for better software if necessary.

Windows is a operating system, not software (well, I guess technically it could be considered software… oh, nevermind)
people usually refer to Windows as an operating system (OS) to prevent confusion.
It’s odd that you wouldn’t like Windows XP, it was one of the better (if not best) and stable Windows versions there was. (It’s also pretty customizable since it was around so long and people got to know it so well.)
There’s alot of “bad press” about Vista these days but hopefully Microsoft will work out the “bugs” (someday).
On your notebook there’s really not much you can get that’s “better” at this point. It may be possible to buy a copy of Windows XP off of eBay or Amazon and revert to it, but you’d need drivers for it as well (for your hardware). There would be some work involved.
Or you could go with Linux, but that’s a different puppy altogether.

What is best is a personal choice. I would think you should get away from Windows altogether and go to Linux if you want a ‘better’ operating system.
Helllllloooooooooooooooooo! my frnd??
ist of all congratulations for your new toshiba!! very nice product
I f u don mind i want to say that there is no single product which is best or free of problems!! Latest means more ram , faster processor, faster hard disk,……………….every thing latest and fastest!!
u didnt tell whats the configuration of your laptop…which very much help to tell u best solution!
Since its vista home then your laptop must be of core two processor with 512 mb or 1 gb ram.
hard disk must be of 5400rpm
But for best performance i want to tell you that for best software u may have to upgrade yor new laptop too
if not even then i can tell you the alternate solution.
VISTA ULTIMATE is latest and best in its range…
there is one more range of vista that is enterprise edition!!
but not of your use!!
for vista ultimate u need minimum 1 gb ram, and faster core two processor of intel or amd’s 64 bit. and 80 gb hdd and a very good graphic card.
the above said is the minimum requirement.
but if you can afford then upgrade it to double ram, faster rpm harddisk (more rpm means more more response), best graphic card.
The more u go higher u need more upgrade! because they need more to provide you average performance!!
But one thing about xp i will say…………its superb too!!!!!!!!!!
because so stabel that from last 2 years i didnt need to reinstall it even after many power failure and careless handling
…….just few settings are needed to make it faster in its catagory and to make it compete with others too@!
but with vista latest u still need new hardware and few settings to make it run like ferrari!!
thanks
Depends on what you want to do. If you have all Vista computers then Vista is the way to go. If you have an XP Desktop and are thinking about networking printers you will probably wind up buying network magic just to do it.
Depends, of course, on what you’re using your computer for.
Vista, although new, I’ve seen & heard that it is pretty cool. Stick with that and see how that works out for you.
